So again I must apologize. This blog is sorely ignored. I spend what creative juices I have on Facebook and Twitter posts every week, never thinking (until this very moment) to share them here because that would be too logical right? So last year I choked down a Subway Pulled Pork "sandwich" as my continuing public service provided for our loyal and savvy customers to avoid making the same mistakes as me. It seemed like the fast food giants heard my message and there was a nice long break from their attempts at pulled pork. Until yesterday that is. I will be the first to admit my commitment to blogging is nowhere near my commitment to BBQ. Each year our little business grows and it becomes harder to find the time to do the fun things like the blo-G. So I make and package a lot of jerky. This means I stare at a lot of jerky.  All day, every day, six days a week I stare at jerky. I have noticed I am starting to see things in the jerky, a phenomenon known as Pareidolia which is the psychological phenomenon involving a stimulus (an image or a sound) wherein the mind perceives a familiar pattern of something where none actually exists (thanks Wikipedia!). Holy Science Big G!!

As a free service to our loyal customers, Big G often takes one for the team and goes out to try the worst pulled pork sandwiches produced by restaurants that obviously know nothing about proper pulled pork. I do this in order to save you the time, money and heartache of terrible corporate flavoured pulled pork. First it was Harvey's pork slop on a soggy bun. 0/5. We got some great news this month. Thanks to the support of all our loyal fans, our little company just got named #46 on The Tomato's annual Top 100 things to eat in Edmonton. #46!!

 

We are absolutely overflowing with pride. I mean we're just two behind the renowned Duchess Bakery. The Duchess!!

 

So a sincere thanks to The Tomato, to everyone with good taste, to everyone that took the time to nominate us. We will keep doing what we do well because we love what we do and we don't ever want to let you down.

The best part of my job without question has to be the variety of great people I get to meet and talk to every week. If you've been to our table before you've probably seen me talking way too much for way too long. I just can't help myself. BBQ fans are a passionate group, so for me to be able to share that passion every week with like minded people is a benefit of this job that I never anticipated. 

 

There's Mathryn from Grande Prairie, who, for his birthday, asked his parents for one thing. To drive to Edmonton to grab some Big G jerky. I was floored and we made sure we hooked him up with our finest beefs!
